How prices are recorded
Every price on this site is a hammer price that an auction house published for a lot it sold. We read the public listings of machinery auctions, keep what each lot fetched when it closed, and put every sale of one model on one page.
What a hammer price is
The hammer price is the winning bid at the moment the lot closed. It does not include the buyer's premium the auction house adds, and it does not include VAT. What a buyer really paid is higher: the lot window has a calculator for that. A price is shown in the currency of the sale.
Where the prices come from
From the auction houses' own pages and from the platforms they sell on. We record the last bid while a lot is open and the result once it has closed. A lot that closed without a published result is counted as closed without a sale and has no price.
One sale counts once
Many houses list the same lot on their own site and on a platform. We recognise the pair and count it as one sale, so one machine never appears twice in the sales of its model.
How a lot is matched to a model
Software reads the title and the description of each lot and matches it to a make and a model in our catalogue. A model is marked as checked when we found it on its maker's own site. Matching is automated and can be wrong: a lot can be filed under a neighbouring model. Every sale links to the lot it came from, so a figure can be checked against the listing.
What is free and what is locked
The oldest sale of every model is free to read, and so is every hammer price under EUR 100. The other prices are locked until an account opens them: one sale on its own, or every sale of a model for a year. A locked sale shows when it sold, the year of build, the hours and the country. It does not show the price, the auction house or the town.
What these pages are not
They are a record of what machines fetched, not a valuation. Two machines of one model differ in age, hours and condition, and the page shows those next to each sale so you can compare like with like. A model page is offered to search engines once it has at least 3 sales with a price.
